The Next Big Thing

Angela Myers, tagged me for The Next Big Thing, a series of blogs by authors from many different genres and parts of the country—or world. Each author answers the same ten questions. Below, read my answers:

1) What is the working title of your next book? (or it can be your latest release)

The title of one of my latest releases is Skin Deep.

2) Where did the idea for the book come from?

The idea for Skin Deep came from a love of werewolves, magic, and wanting to get a black panther tattoo.

3) What genre does your book fall under?

Skin Deep is a steamy paranormal romance.

4) What actors would you choose to play the part of your characters in a movie rendition?

If I were to cast it into a movie, I know Connor O’Reilly would be Channing Tatum. Angelique Trinette would be Amanda Seyfried except with dark hair.

5) What is the one-sentence synopsis of your book?

Passions sizzle even between a feline and a wolf…

6) Will your book be self-published or represented by an agency?

Skin Deep was published by Etopia Press.

7) How long did it take you to write the first draft of the manuscript?

It took me thirteen days to write the first draft of Skin Deep.

8) What other books would you compare this story to within your genre?

I’m really not sure. I haven’t read any other stories like this one.

9) Who or what inspired you to write this book?

I first took the leap because a publisher put out a call for submissions that fit this story perfectly, so I knew it’d be a great time to write it with that opportunity there. But in the end, Angelique and Connor made the story. They inspired me.

10) What else about the book might pique the reader’s interest?

Angelique had no idea her black panther tattoo would force her to abandon the love of her life—Connor O’Reilly—but she’s determined to keep him safe no matter how much it hurts. Her tattoo doubles as her feline familiar: loving, protective, dangerous, and with a life of its own. It’s also her deepest secret and draws enemies who desire its power for themselves.

Connor has no idea why Angelique left him, but he’s determined to win her back. As a werewolf, he has secrets of his own. Now his alpha is ready to force him to pair with an ex-girlfriend he can’t stand unless he can find Angelique and claim her as his mate. But even as their secrets threaten to keep them apart, hidden enemies seek to destroy their chance at love forever.

Sarah’s Purrrfectly Giftastic Christmas Post + WINNER ANNOUNCED

Are you ready for the holidays? There’s only 11 days until Christmas! Eeek!

I am, so I’m participating in the Purrrfectly Giftastic Christmas Blog Hop to help spread some holiday cheer! It’ll run from today until December 17th at 11:59 PM. I hope everyone is able to snag some great prizes from the fantastic list of bloggers participating this weekend!

I’m offering up a $10 Amazon gift card as well as an ebook from me. What goodies do I have lurking in there you ask? Good question!

Blurb for Her Christmas Elf (my newest release):

Lost in a forest, Vera finds an elf who gives her a Christmas to remember.

Traveling alone in Finland around Christmas isn’t exactly what Vera Hayes had imagined she’d be doing. When her longtime boyfriend dumps her before the trip at the last minute, she decides to go anyways. However, she gets lost in a forest in Lapland and starts to panic until she runs into a magical man who looks suspiciously like an elf without the pointy ears. Pekka, one of Santa’s elves, soothes away her worry and helps her find her way back to her cabin, giving her a Christmas Eve to remember.

And the blurb for my book coming out December 17th, Captivated:

When a mercenary whose purpose is to dispose of wicked Unseelie fae meets a Dark Elf, she’ll question her mission and become captivated…

After her family was killed by a dark elf, mercenary Honora Butler’s purpose is the disposal of wicked faeries, elves, and Unseelie beings, but she’ll find herself questioning her mission when she meets Brennan, a dark elf who doesn’t conform to what she believed his kind were like.

Brennan O’Niall doesn’t know what it is about Honora that makes him crave her, but he wants to find out. However, when she’s charged with the murder of a friend, he’ll have to find out the truth and decide just how much she means to him.

Meme Monday: Garden Gnome… Bernard?

Wow, this is funny. It’s definitely something Bernard, the gnome from my Hacked Investigations series, would do. Especially when they say about the possible garden gnome. LOL

Meme Monday: Sketchy Santa

I hope everyone had a Merry Christmas! I decided to go with a Sketchy Santa today. This one is pretty hilarious since I have a black cat who would probably react the same way. *grins*

The Do’s and Don’ts of Caring for Gnomes

This week’s Into the Paranormal is a fun post. It’s tied in with my Hacked Investigations cyberpunk romance series, so then why is this about gnomes you ask? Meet Bernard, a fantastically funny and obnoxious sidekick to my technomage hero, Ian Bradley. He can be helpful or he can be a pain in the butt.

Here are a few tips Ian’s learned.

DO keep the house full of good fruits and vegetables since gnomes tend to be herbivores. Side note: make sure you don’t forget to bring him his favorite sweets too. Yes, they can have a sweet tooth.

DON’T keep alcohol anywhere near the house. The gnome will drink himself silly and be grumpy from the nasty hangover that ensues.

DO treat him nicely. If you don’t, chances are he’ll pay you back in mischievous ways.

DON’T keep your eyes off him for a second when things start to go wrong. He might bring more trouble on your head.

DO encourage him to plant his own garden, if you like to keep a roof over your head. He eats a lot.

• And finally, DON’T bring home a girl you’re interested in romantically, he’ll probably make lots of lewd innuendos that you wouldn’t want her to hear.

Meme Monday: Minecraft

No, it’s not writing related, but I love Minecraft (and I also love Sean Bean). What is Minecraft? It’s a really fun and creative building/survival game that my husband got me into. So I decided to share. *grins*

Top 5 Supernatural TV Shows

I’ll be bringing to Friday’s my Into the Paranormal column, but with the Christmas Blog Hop starting tomorrow, this week’s will be today instead.

Hopping right into it, this week I’m sharing with you guys a countdown of five of my favorite Supernatural TV Shows. By no means are these all the shows I’ve liked over the years, but these are the ones that come to mind when I think of great paranormal TV. These range from what you can currently find on TV to shows from yesteryear, but I have to say, that’s the beauty of things like Netflix! No need to miss out on great things. Click on the names for more information about the shows.

#5: True BloodBased off the Sookie Stackhouse novels by Charlaine Harris. This show is pretty awesome. I hadn’t read the books before giving it a shot, but I’m hooked. Still haven’t taken the dive to reading the novels (partially due to being a relatively slow reader that has a huge TBR pile), but I’m definitely looking forward to the next season arriving on Netflix.

#4: American Gothic. This TV show is back from 1995 and ran for one season. I remember it from all those years ago, and I so want to watch it again. For me, that’s saying something. lol Gary Cole and Lucas Black were sooo good in this show. I’ve made sure to watch what they do now after this series.

#3: The Dresden Files. Based off The Dresden Files novels by Jim Butcher. This series lasted for one season as well. I didn’t know about it until afterward. I’d watched a couple of the episodes on Hulu, and then my husband and I checked it out on Netflix a few weeks later. It helped prompt me into reading the books, which I’m so happy about because I enjoyed the first one a lot.

#2: Buffy the Vampire Slayer (and Angel spin-off). What can I say? I grew up with this show. I do have to admit that I stopped watching it after it took some crazy turns. I added it to Netflix to re-watch one of these days though. It was awesome when Buffy and Angel were together. David Boreanaz… yes, I’m panting. lol I also loved Spike. This series really furthered my love for the paranormal and helped drive me toward what I do… paranormal romance.

And for my number one pick…

#1: Supernatural. Man, oh man… This show is awesome! There are moments when I’ve felt it goes a little too much into the angel/demon thing instead of further going into the different mythology and folklore topics that they did closer to the beginning of the series, but that’s just a very, very minor thing. The two main characters, Sam and Dean… wow… I’m a total fangirl of them now. There’s also Castiel, a hot angel sidekick, who is pretty amazing as well.

The storyline, the writing… Really good!

So, now that I’ve dished on my favorite supernatural TV shows, tell me… what are yours?

Meme Monday: Writer’s Block

This week, I’m starting something new on the blog! Yes, they’re funny, and sometimes pretty darn insightful. Here we go…

You’d be surprised at just how true this can be sometimes.
